Hi all,

I got an Evo 7 GSR (import) with FQ heater controls on the bottom
(I used to have GSR before and it had single din with heater controls under the radio.)

Now I have this:

(boost controller is being moved under the heater controls today)

I noticed the car doesnt give any warm air at all. Didnt bother me much at the start as the engine reached temp well and stayed at 90c. Drove to stansted yesterday night, and it was so cold I wish I brought gloves with me ... So need to get this sorted ASAP...

What have I done and why Im running out of ideas.
Checked the fluids- radiator and expansion tank both full.
2 Pipes by the AYC relay (1hot, 1 cold- as it chould be?)
No water on the carpets
When i turn the handle a motor by the clutch pedal moves a mallet shaped peace to adjust the temp? (moves from low to about 25c,the turn between 25-30 doesnt seem to make any movement there)
Air con does not work (the small aircon rad seemes to have better days, but not going to replace it as I never use A/C - and that is needed only for the cold air.
Single plug behind the unit checked- all plugged in well.

What am I missing? seems that it has a different heater? (not wire activated, but motorised?)

Any ideas or suggestions more than welcome! :awesome:

GSRs only came.with the.motorized.i think...... Does the rest of the controls work.on it? Might be a idea to rip.it out and have a look.

By asking what you have done, it prompts me to think that you fitted the Boost Controller yourself, is that right???

Boost controller was fitted before I got the car, I just unplugged it and redone the undertray as it was squeeking, and going to use double sided tape and stick it under the heater controls (prefer it there)

Rest of the controls work fine, im going to try the heater unblock as recommended...hope it helps

Was ready to put air through...
Found this:

Where exactly the pipe go (left one is plugged in to the block I think, this one is the right one)

Oh that looks like one of your circulation pipes. Is the other end of that in the bulkhead atthr back of the picture? Not a clue why that would have been blanked off unless you have bought the car recent and the stat has gone and he done ttto hide on the test drive

Found the issue :))

My car has evo 8 engine where that pipes goes in to thermostat housing instead of manifold...
I still have evo 7 termostat so I need a T piece from any other pipe, or a thermostat from evo 8....

Thinking to do it properly, but if I replace it with 8 thermostat, will I have to do any other pipes???

Ah right that makes sense, not sure to be honest you may need to blank something off but see what el has to say when he gets online as he will know more about the differences between the 7+8

Aha, I see that you have found the problem!

I have read your previous post and am certain that the Evo VIII Thermostat Housing is different to the VII and the opening system operates differently too.

I have a feeling that you're capable enough so maybe your best bet right now is to try and modify what you have available to you....
