Evo 7 gear box makeing noise

On my evo 7 when I put in 3rd gear it making a crunch noise . 1st 2nd 4td 5th are all fine. If I put 2nd to 4rd it fine . Us the gear box on the way out

Worst case is probably a worn synchro, best case maybe the linkage cable bush is worn so it doesn't move the selector over enough. Drain the gearbox oil and check for metal fragments would be my advise

If I do find metal fragment in oil what does that mean.

If you find metal it means you have metal grinding metal, most prob a synchro like already said. Done delay on this but drop the gear oil (check for swarf) and replace the oil of this doesn't help I'm afraid it's gearbox out ect
