Hi Evo Owners,

I'm after some help / advice please.

I finally brought an Evo 6 2000 plate @ 52k last week which I was loving up until it wouldn't start last night. I'd covered roughly 400 miles since owning and all was fine when it cut out at a roundabout one night, I got it going again but after parking up that night it hasn't started since. The engine light didn't come on at any point.

The issue I have is no ignition, it's trying to crank over but won't start. The immobiliser is disarmed and still doesn't start. I've just checked the fuel pump and there's power and it's priming fine. I've not checked the plugs yet as it's been pissing it down outside.

After researching on here and other forums advice was to bridge pin 1 & 4 on the diagnostic plug to see if any codes came out of the check engine light. My pin 4 on the plug is an empty slot so I tried the other earth on 5 and nothing happens. With the ignition on, all dash lights come on then they disappear after a few seconds. I've tried using another earth but no change in the CEL status.

It may be that my crank sensor has gone from the previous owner not using it that much and then me clearing the dust webs off over the weekend? They seem to be a cause of failure on other Evo non starts I'm learning.

Would anyone have some advice on being able to diagnose a fault with the car? I really don't fancy changing the CS if it's not needed. I don't have access to a diagnostic kit either. If it comes to it I'll call a mobile mechanic but I'm pretty skinted out after just buying the car.

Any advice to help get the car going again will be appreciated!

Cheers

* Update

I noticed two small spade connectors near the diagnostic plug, I connected up them and it may be the reason I have no pin 4 in the plug. There's a possibility that the previous owner by passed the plug.

All lights on the dash start flashing now but the CEL show's no faults, it repeatedly flashes on and off again without any change in the pauses?

I'm pretty sure I've gone through all the fuses now without any showing to be blown.
