Evo 4 running problems

Hello,

On my way home from buying it today a light came on on the dash, looking like an intercooler or radiator with lines coming from it. I know nothing about these cars yet. But looking like something overheating? Engine temp is fine but the car also started bucking.

Then it felt like it wasn't boosting even though the valve was sounding and struggles to go over 4,500rpm ish.

Any ideas? I've parked it up for now.

Is it the engine management light? Sounds like it. Is your car standard?

I know very little about the car, it was just too cheap to pass up. I'm looking into its history now. As far as I'm aware there's no major changes, just things like turbo timer and dump valve.

Ok problem solved. It's the cat light where it's been decatted. Also it runs on v power which I was just told after putting normal in. But thanks anyway Smokey!

Try and keep it away from boost, or get yourself some octane booster for that tank of fuel.

Defo the cat light. Infact it's the cat overheat light. You can remove the bulb or use some form of resistor on the wire that plugs into the cat/near cat

the connection for that wire is under the driver's seat just bridge the two wires together job done no more cat light or the bother of taking the bulb out
