Evo 4 rear windscreen wash

Hey, i have a small problem that i hope someone will be able to answer. My rear windscreen wash isnt working, the rear wiper works fine in all modes as do the front ones its just the rear spray that isnt working. Ive checked the hoses and they all seem to be connected correctly, any thoughts? cheers

is there a different pump for the rear one, dont the front and back work off the same motor?

workks from the same pump as you only have one washer bottle

no nick, 3 pumps 1 bottle on a 5 in the front of the car

one for cooler spray, one for front washers and one for rear

I know theres a seperate pump for the spray I thought there was only one pump for the screensthen again though it would pump on to front at the same time wouldn't it:blush:

Bottle in the boot and it's a 4 not a 5

i called it a 5 instead of 4 and i was thinking of a 5 cos i seen the pumps in my mates bottle on his 5 the other day.

think 4 is the same though then they moved the bottle to rear 6 onwards

If the pump does buzz then it's a blocked or split pipe

if it don't then it's either pump itself or wiring or switch.

See if you can operate the pump with the wires from the other pump or grab some wire and run a live and earth straight from battery just as a quick test but get someone to hold one end of the wires while you hod the other but please don't touch the 2 together or let the live 1 touch the car cos this will also cause sparks a possibly fry the battery

No probs, just be careful not to touch the end of live wire on anything

hey guys, had a look at the pump today and was working fine, can hear it working quite clearly when i try to spray. So im thinking it might be a blocked pipe somewhere as theres no sign of water coming out anywhere under the car. Could be a bit tricky i think?

Pull the outlet pipe off the pump and see if water pumps out it still might be the pump is knackered if it does pump out it's definately a blockage

i pulled the pipe off the connection in the boot and nothing came out but i didnt think about doing it from the other end, is it easy to get to? im not sure on the access to the pump?

Is the buzz from the front or rear of the car ??
Do you have a separate washer bottle in the boot ?
Check water in bottle ????

If Washer bottle is behind the front bumper then yea you'll need to jack car up to get to it and see what your doing.

Once you have located the pumps put your hand on each one and get someone to flick the switch so you can feel which one buzzes then once you know which pump it is pull the pipe off and see if you get water out of it and that it's pumping water. If not then change pump if it does then check inside the car for water cos the pipe will prob be under carpet somewhere

the buzz is coming from the front, no i dont think there is a seperate bottle in the boot, will i cant see one anyway, it looks like the pipe work runs from the front of the car to the wiper. theres no water that i can find anywhere in the car so i think its most likely something to do with the pipe work going to the boot, gonna have to jack it up tomorrow and take a look at the pump in the wheel arch i think.

If the pump is fine then the next step would be to use a blower to try and force air through the pipe in order to ascertain if there is a blockage somewhere.

If you use a powerful enough blower, it should clear any clogs/blockages immediately.
