I've not long come into owner ship of an evo 4 and already i have problems with it and was wodering if anyone has any ideas as what could be wrong with it. She had a rebuild about 2 years ago using genuine mitsubishi parts but using evo 6 pistions and thing as that was what was recommended. She runs 1.2 bar ( dunno if thats normal or not ) with no boost loss at all and there is no smoke coming from the rear so not burning oil. Anyway the problem, Was on my way home and had to turn into tight eft junction as i did the car cut out, i thought i maybe was just in wrong gear and stalled so thought nowt of it. As i starterd it again it was slow to start but it fired up and away it went ran sweet untill i came to the next road end. As it sat on idle the oil light came on and she died again, i went to the boot got ma oil and popped the bonnet checked the dipstick but it came out as the level being fine so checked another couple o times just to make sure. it was slow on the start again but eventually went but this time had a rattle coming from the bottom end. Anyone any ideas at what could be causing this or what is wrong wi it? i really hope it aint buggered  Any help or idea wll be more than welcome. Cheers.

Hi mate, i'm no mechanic but that don't sound good. maybe big-end at worst, i'd take the sump off and have alook if you can see any crap in the oil?

Ive heard on here 4 engines are weak if not looked after properly with crank-walk being 1 of them!

Oooh oil light is oil pressure so Id guess oil pump has failed. I would be concerned how long it had been running with low pressure and what that could have done. (Might be nothing at all)
Either way i would certainly get it to a garage (not driven)...

Trailered it into the garage the day and got sump and dropped off and got it looked at. couple o bits of metal in the oil which has scored the shells but lucky for me it aint scored the crank, think i caught it early eough. Replacing the shells and big ends so hopefully that'll sort it and she'll be bck in a couple o days. Think it might be worth getting new pump or ya think it was a glitch so to speak?

That is good news its not too bad! :D

As for the new pump, i would ask the garage if there is any evidence of it being the issue. Or ask them for an indication of what could have caused it.
