Evo 4 help please

Hi everyone,

I don't really post much on forums but I'm in need of some help/advice please.

I bought my first Evo 4 a couple of months ago and had to replace the crank pulley 2 weeks later because it fell off.......

I have also had a new cambelt and pulleys in the last 6 weeks ish.

Lately it has been losing power and going into 'limp mode'. The engine management light comes on and it sounds like a Diesel. When this happens I pull over switch it off and on again and it's back to normal......

If anyone has any idea on what could be causing this I would appreciate it very much.

It also comes up with the AYC light sometimes which occasionally brings up the engine management light, again I pull over switch it off and back on again.

This is my first Evo so don't know a great deal about them and don't really want to move it on but I'm worried it may be a money pit! It's also my daily driver.

There's a way of gettin fault codes from the ECU do a search on here for a how to, or google the same for answers.

Is it the original engine? If so it could be the beginning of crank walk problems associated with the 4 engines. But equally could. Be something simple or electrical.

Easiest way to pull codes is to use a paperclip between pins 1 & 4 on the obd connector then turn your ignition on and it will flash the code for you a long flash = 10 and a short flash = 1 add up what you get and it will give you the codes if you have one, hope that makes sense

I have a guy coming out today hopefully to do diagnostics so I'm hoping he will find something, I really hope it's not crank walk.

I have read somewhere that it may even be the coil pack/s breaking down........

As stated could be a number of things. Sounds more like a sensor to me though.

I had a diagnostic check yesterday and it has come up with a coil pack breaking down?? I will source a new one and hope it sorts it!

Just wanted to say that after replacing both coil packs & leads and re-setting the ECU this seems to have solved it so far :O)

as for crank walk i've heard so many problems but only 1-2 i've read that got it
