Yesterday i starting having some ticking noise from the top of the engine(head). Thought seeing as i havent done an oil change for a year i check the oil level, which was at min.... obviously being so low ive decided to drop the remaining oil and change it. Ive brought the oil today (10/40) part syn.

I'm now left wondering, and im pretty sure im correct, the oil filter is on the drivers side of the engine, accessed in the wheel arch. The sump drain plug is on the same side but at the rear of the sump, at an angle.

Now do i need to buy any new sump washer when i buy the oil filter?

as for the noise im also guessing Lash adjusters? how much am i looking at sorting these out? it may not be them due to the oil being low....

Any tips gratefully recieved. Thanks.

you can buy uprated 3mm lash adjusters i think indigo gt sells them or you could take them out and clean them.

I must have done over 80 oil changes since I started driving, and i've never replaced the sump washer, and never had an oil leak from the drain plug. They tend to not suffer from wear and tear.

Oil filter is underneath next to the drain bung.
Washer not always needed but may be worth changing this time if it's looking haggard.
I and many others use silkolene pro s or fuchs Titan race as it's known as now. 10/50
Cleaning lash adjusters may help or as your taking them out you may as well change them for new ones which indigo-Gt sell :)

Oil change one, to be fair is easier than doing the RS. tried to get 10/50 in Swindon but no one had it in, so stuck with 10/40. Also took alook at my 'tapping noise' its no lash adjusters, strangely around the cam belt area on the air con unit, i used the air con for the first time the other day after a year and the noise started then. Abit of WD40 sorted it out.
