If the slave is gone then the car will mostly crunch on gear change or not go in at all, i suspect that the clutch is gone. fast road are good but generally the dealer clutch will suffice, maybe the car was ragged. £220 is a good price, make sure the garage know what they are doing.

If you go for an exedy then make sure you pull the hand brake up fully and put the car into third and bring it to just above biting piont and hold for 5 seconds to let the clutch start bedding in.

Then make sure you drive making smooth gear changes for 400 miles or so.

Thanks for your replys, I've had the car for 2years now an I havnt really ragged it as much as I should I had a garage look at it today and they said that it was the clutch and that its slipped and I should get mitshubish in oxford to replace it as they fitted the new on for me 13years ago and I've travelled around 10k in it biut it never felt right after they fitted it biut they said it was becaiuse it had to be worn in, mitshi said they will take out the gear box and have a look to see if its not been fitted correctly if so they will fix it for free and if not 1600 quid for a new one lol x

What's wrong with hearing that a clutch has lasted 13 years???
Its not out of the ordinary!!!!!

I think you need to have stern word or two with the dealership, for a start, the clutch should last you a minimum of 12000 miles or one year which ever comes first, generally a dealer clutch or copy clutch is rated 12k so they should open up the gear box for sure.
You really need to press them to replace it for free and remain adamant that it has to be done. Hopefully you still have the receipt??

Demand to speak to the Manager of the dealership and not just the Manager of the parts & service department.

It is often wise to ring the dealership first and clarify with them what sort of mileage warranty is available on the clutch and take the name of the staff member that you have spoken to. Give them the reg of a friends evo that is the same year as yours as a reference so as not the cause any issues with blag advice on their part.

£600 for a replacement???

Did they not ask you to come back after 400 miles to check the clutch/slave or pedal???

Dodgy guys those oxford chaps eh??

Good luck and keep us posted.

Did you say £1600!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If they say the clutch was fitted right then the least they can do is put one in for you that you buy on the spot and put it in for free as the one you have already will have to be taken out, inspected and put back in!!!!!

What a bunch of bafoons!!!!!!

If they give you too much agro then get back to me and i will point you in the right direction of where you can go to have the job done by a real team of professionals that specialise in evo and gtr.
It will cost you less than half the dealer price and they will do you a full service too!!!

cant get farer than that can you??????

Did manage to have a word with the dealership???????

I spoke some chaps that i am tight with and they told me that they will be happy to help you out..........
Clutch change and full service including gear oil change and ayc fluid (if ayc fluid has lost any consistency) all parts supplied and fitted for just under half the dealership charges and they will stamp your book for you!!!

Currently working on several 600+ bhp re-builds amongst other client demands so they know what they are doing.

Hope you get success with the bafoons at the dealership though:):):)
