chip in key

right guys does any o ne know if the chip in the key on an evo 8 is programed to the ecu as i've just bought a damaged evo 8 and the key was lost so i took the door lock to the key place and the man made me a key that i can use to move the car around the garage but need to get the chip sorted and a guy as told me that if i take the transponder from around the barrel and take it to him he can make me a chip but somone said that it wont work because it needs to be programed to the ecu is this true

Yes it is coded to the ecu but its very easy to disable the immobiliser in the rom on the ecu if you have a flashing cable.
