Just be careful moving the car as the belt drives the alternator, power steering pump and water pump

Yh I will mate, the cars parked up outside my house and will stay there until the new belt is fitted I got it home after it had cooled down completely and oh my days the steering is ridiculous. And out of curiosity could my car have been towed? Just with a tow rope? As I asked my bro to pull me home as its only 3 quarters of a mile down the road and he being the one who thinks he knows all said that I can't be towed, I argues this as I know I can't be spec lifted but towing should be ok

Towing is a bit of a sketchy grey are to do with weights and the car pulling it ect ect and officially the driver must have a towing licence but again I'm sure you get away with it as all 4 wheels are on the ground if it's all legal and taxed.

Similar thing happened to me but the car overheated so quickly the radiator burst, cause was the water pump pully exploding :-|

I ditched my AC pump and used the shorter belt for camskill and done the trick fine.

It's alright to tow as long as all 4 wheels on the ground...

Cheers people have checked and towing is fine as long as all wheels on the ground as stated above so I'll tell my bro to jog on, yh I know what you mean about the towing business but it's ok as long as licence tax insurance ect is all in order it when you start using dollys and trailers it becomes a problem

I'll be putting the belt on outside mine but I'll prob remove everything mid next month when I'm at my dads for the week, that way too I'll have somewhere to store all the parts without them being damaged

Well firstly thanks for all the help people. I changed the belt tonight I ordered one last night from camskill and rsvrob (yoda) had one ready for his engine so I had his and when mine turns up I'll give it him cheers mate.

What should have been quite painless actually turned into a 3 and half hour ordeal.

Old belt gone new belt over most the pulleys tried getting the tensioner tensioned with rachet and didn't work so thought I would wind it right back pop a pin in the hole belt on knock the pin out self tensions job done....... No
As I had the ratchet in and turning it to line the holes up the blasted hole where the ratchet goes decides to snap so off had to come the tensioner and back over to robs to use his vice to reset the tensioner and put the pin in it, back to mine put on the car line the belt up and should give a few hits screw breaks and all tensed up......... No this screw didn't wanna budge couldn't find the hack saw to cut it either so I just persevered and eventually screw comes out and job done, would recommend a nail to anyone in the future as you can just grip twist and pull

All done though. As for the aircon pump pulley well it's fooked the bearings have collapsed so the pulley moves in every direction and rattles now so that needs to come off ASAP so I'll get the gases out and get that off soon

Removed pump and some pipes today will get around to getting rid o the rest next month in the workshop. Pump was easy to remove in situe, no need to remove rad plenty of room, ic pipe off though to drop down

The cars back on the road already only spent 24 hours off the road while I was waiting for the belt, jus finished off removing the annoying rattling pump today

That damn square hole just isn't strong enough is it.
Been there mate not much and next time use a screwdriver in the hole to hold the tensioner back as they are easier to pull out

Yh I'll be using something with a handle next time although the holes are now mangled in my frustration so new tensioner all together next time an no that stupid monkey metal is useless and weak as anything
