Hi,
I am thinking of buying an EVO X. FQ300.

I need advice, Most of them are auto or at least semi auto but the best one in terms of condition and colour is manual and I know this is rare, How good is the auto and is it better to buy the auto for resale value and what price should i expect to pay for a 2008 model with full history, The ones I am looking at have less than 20,000 miles.

Thanks for any input from anyone.

manual

I am not buying the car to sell but i do want to buy the right one. The one that will hold the value the most over a year or 2 years.
That's why i thought I would ask here what people would generally go for.

Thanks.

Depends what you're used to driving but you may want to mod it therefore a manual GSR 300 (if you want all the toys as well). If you don't want to mod it I'd look for a GSR 360.

I've got the FQ300 with Semi auto (Paddle shift) gearbox - love it - fantastic gear change on it especially when pushing it on a bit :awesome:
Go out and try them and see what you think - always try before you buy
Might also depend on what you used to drive - and then compare it to the Evo
You will buy one for sure

Welcome mate!

I have the manual FQ300 and would much prefer it over the SST but again it's down to personal preference - drive both and see what you think. My concern would be the cost of fixing the SST system if it goes wring and car is out if warrenty then again you could say the same about the manual.

Either way an X is great buy!! :)

Manual would be better for resale. Although the market is pants. I was told by a friend that the used car market is going to have a bigger dip in the coming months, and prices are going to drop by 10%, so it's going to be a buyers market for sure

SST is the way forward, more and more tuners are getting their heads around the SST Box now. A standard 300SST is as fast as a 360 manual round a track due to the loss of speed in the 360 with gear changes.

imo get a SST and get it remapped to 385bhp and you have a rapid machine then and at that BHP they are still reliable. >400bhp and you are talking a lot more £££.

The SST box was about £3k or £5k more than manual at new (cant remember which!) I reckon you should obviously try both before you buy I test drove both did a load of research and got a SST. Mine has had a few isssues but it hasnt put me off what is undeniable a far more advanced box.
