Beware of Cat D evo v......

If anyone is looking to buy or know someone who is interested in this car, please check it out first. I know this car and pretty sure its cat d.

Cheap car at the price and worth that for parts, but think it should still be mentioned in the ad

If repairs are done well and he has mentioned all that is wrong that's a bargain, I agree cat d should be mentioned in the ad and if it is I would be dubious about buying when undone a hpi check

Mate of mine had a cat d Lexus. Rear bump, rear quater and back panel.

The trouble with evos and like the Lexus the parts are so god damn expensive that it takes very little for the insurance company to write it of.
I wouldn't worry about a cat d as long as I was told and it was reflected in the price

Some insurance companies do write a car off for silly things, but insurance companies don't like insuring cars on cat C or D and you could find it hard to get insurance on it

they automatically default as an undercover flaggie when signing their name in blood for the bodywork but depending on the level of denial depends on the price

Yeah exactly they are written off for nothing, it just annoys me that its not mentioned when it would make no difference to the asking price.

If i bought that and spent a good bit of cash repairing everything i would be pretty annoyed to find out it was cat d.

ive had cat c+d cars never had a problem insuring them!!! if the repairs are done well then there's no prob, a cat c has to go through another test after repair work to get log book back.... As said cat d can be anything, ive seen so many bad repairs on cars which have no marks against them its scary sometimes, so id say if price is good you can see some pics of damage and bills for the work, then why not.......

apart from windscreen and gearbox problems what else is wrong?looks very similar to mine and its the rare sunroof version,got to be worth a punt surely?

Cat.d is nothing like been said i have seen cars in a right mess with no mark on logbook i brought a focus rs went.to put batt in boot and found it had a quarter on it and that was hpi clear

Exactly. Hpi don't mean anything some times cos if a car was hit hard but owner wasn't in position to claim but had the funds then it could still be repaired and sold on.
