Best way to launch stock Evo IV

Hi guys, theres a drag race competition on sunday here around my country and Im planning to give it a try. Its only 2 races by car. I've entered a couple of times but Ive only revved up to the limited and the dropped the clutch. I've read this aint good for severeal things besides my revs anyway drop to 4k and I get some wheelspin.

Ive been reading a lot about this subject, and I know there is a lot. But since the races are coming soon I wanted some quick help. My car/clutch is stock and from I've been reading for stock car, no launch controller, no antilag, no nothing the idea that has been convincing me the most was slipping at 4k/4.5krpms. What would you guys say?

I want to get a pretty detailed idea so I can practice it just a couple of times. I dont wanna ruin my clutch or anything entering this contest lol. Just have some fun.

Stock clutch! Don't expect it to last too long then :lol: I would say a twin plate would be a food investment!

Failing that - make sure you pre-load the clutch by holding the handbrake (drill the end with the button held in and put a split pin through to save having to manually drop the lever) and easing on the power. Bring up the revs smoothly whilst in stage whilst slipping the clutch a bit to build some boost. Don't do this for too long or you will overheat the clutch and don't go too high on the revs or you will kill your clutch in double quick time. If you do get a twinplate then don't rev too high without preloading or you will kill you gearbox/diff.

its all about timing mate! Get it right and you fly get it wrong and you take 1/4 of the life of your clutch lol only got it right once! Other time's it just all goes wrong. Like said twin or paddle if the want to launch!

LOL But how many rpms would you recommend? A little more explanation on droppping/slipping pleaseeeeeee What do I have to see? I believe when I launch I release the clutch and all my boost is gone and I start from 0. This is no good right? I load 15psi

If you drag the clutch slightly this will put some load on the engine allowing you to build some boost without antilag. It will build heat in the clutch though so don't do it for too long - this is slipping. Slip the clutch a bit as you pull away to help keep the boost. Don't drop the clutch suddenly without pre-loading if you like your gearbox and diffs.

I wouldn't go past 4k rpm maximum with a stock clutch!

Damn!!! I think Im getting the idea. Thing is I cant "practice" too much haha. But I know thats what I did the time I did it right. I'll give it a couple of tries and thats it. Hope not to get left behind in the start the day of the race. Probably them will put me against some sti. Cant let evos down

You also don't want to kill the clutch, on a standard one as already mentioned it isn't too hard to screw the clutch as all 4 wheels have to turn there for the will all catch traction and slip the clutch instead. You will be better off doing a normal start and let the car do the rest up the drag strip

yeah i launch like this. get just onto staging, hand brake up into first, clutch down. bring clutch up slowly till its just biting and the car will rock forward and a few inch as it takes up the slack in the transmission. then when the lights go amber give it about 5-6k and let the clutch out as you let the handbtrake off. shouldnt even spin if done properly. i was getting 1.68 60 foots and 0-60 in 3.43 with that technique
