Battery on Evo 9

Battery on my Evo 9 keeps diying ever week I use only at weekend why would this be water in the cells are top up.

You have a high current drain from something. Do you have gauges, aftermarket alarm? Tracker? All that adds up and drains it over a period.

Yes Steve have all part from tracker what can I do as its doing my head in?

Your best off getting a trickle charger, like a life support for it during the week, I think they call them battery conditioners

Or go out once a day and start it for 5 mins

I had similar issues, I got a new battery and the car now lasts a couple of weeks between drives, you can even get slightly bigger batteries that will last even longer

What battery is in the car? Mine came with the battery meant for a ford ka or car of simialr size.. All well and good if the car gets plenty of miles use but if not........ Flat!

Mine is dead - probably for same reason. I just disconnect mine when npot in use at the moment but differnt to you as mine is SORM anyway.

I do need to get a replacement one so would be interested in ones people recommned. Ive seen ones on ebay for about £80 and looks like Indio do one for £100 which maybe better?

I guess a trickle charge/conditioner is the best as you may loose map/data etc who know if like me you disconnect for long periods?

I have this problem on my 8. Trickle charger from halfrauds £25 done the trick

To test your battery try this:

1. Start your car then leave it running for 5 mins

2. Immobilize your engine so engine cranks but dose not start(pull out fuel pump fuse)

3. Using a multi meter check battery voltage, it should be 12.2v to 12.8v

4. If voltage is ok crank engine for 15 seconds (immobilized) if the battery voltage falls bellow 9 volts when cranking then its time for a new battery!!!

To check for drain do this:

1. Disconnect battery live terminal

2. Using your multi meter set to amps put one lead on the battery positive terminal and the other lead onto the lead you disconnected

3. Any reading on your multi meter above 0.3 amps would indicate a vehicle drain

If you let a car battery run flat more than around 4 times, the cells and lead plates will be dead and you'll have to replace it.

+1 - just got mine with this code. After having to go back as I bought one from their list which was too big and had terminals on the other side!.

First mod I did was to debadge the battery of all the Halfords stickers lol.

The car fired up first time too after 6 months of being dead
