any one good with wiring in norfolk

hi guys I have a 96 E4
just fitted an oil pressure gauge ,I went step by step of how it said in paper work but every time I connect earth it wipes out the gauge reading :confused:
just asking if any one close n good with wire's would take alook as im not trusting my self

What you meen by wipes the gauge out?!
You should have an earth for the gauge and for the sensor. But depending on the sensor, it may not need it. Ad it earths through the housing.

It goes from 80psi to nothing .....
The sender unit goes in the block where oil pressure switch was ...

No you don't replace the original oil pressure switch. You should fit it by the oil filter housing.
It should read nothing with engine off.
Around 80 on cold idle.
10-20 once fully warmed up.

If it's reading correctly then you earth it and it zeros. Don't earth it.
