ANY PARTICULAR REASON AS TO WHY YOUR GOING FOR THE 6???
In my opinion a safer buy as a first evo would be the 3. from 4 onwards the setup changed and the "easily cured" and value for money pound per horse power ratio of the evo 3 became the "try and cry again" method so much loved by the salvage yards lol!
The safest way to ensure that your getting a good 6 would be to get one that has FMSH and before you buy, listen for a whineing sound from the rear, smoke, a tappety sound that does not go away even when you rev over 3k, loads of old MOT's for mileage.
Above all, a seller that is in his mid 30's onwards.
if you might be persuaded to look again and try a 3 then check out piston heads classifieds.
the 3 is a reliable enough motor with 270bhp that has a semi bullet proof engine that i know for a fact can easily go on for atleast 195000 miles if looked after. i should know as my brother has just exported his to south america recently. It clocked 194678 miles on the day that he drove it to liverpool docks to be shipped outin march this year!!!
theres an N REG going cheap that caught my eye and an M REG fresh import that is worth a look too!
