ABS light on/ new member, need help!

Ok, so I just bought my first evo. Its an evo 8 fq330 on a 53 reg. Upon first starting the vehicle the abs activates everytime I brake but with no warning light on. However, after a few minutes driving, the brakes work perfect but the ABS light comes on. Anyone know whats wrong?
