Hi, as per title...

I I floor it in the higher gears, I sometimes get an almighty jerk, like hitting a wall!
Ive done some searches but can't find a definitive answer.

It's a standard evo9 mr 360, but it's got a HKS evc fitted, I don't know what boost it's running, or what it should be running.

Any ideas?

No, but it's the standard HKS version, with the induction kit, sports cat, and all the rest of it... I know getting it mapped will sort it, but I've only just got it, and I definatly don't want 400bhp yet!

Any other ways around it? What about lowering the boost pressure?

Turning the boost down should sort it out. If you don't have a boost gauge fitted then get one in there so you can see what its doing.

The boost controller should show you wahat boost you are running. I dont knwo about the HKS one but on my AVCR I just press the nest button it shows the boost realtime so you should easily be able to tell at what pressure its happening.

Does it do it in all gears or just top gears?

If only top gears lower ones will give a reading of max boost and high gears you will be able to see what level the 'fuel cut' happens if indeed that's waht it is

So how do I go about getting the map changed? And if it has been mapped before, can I get it put back to standard?

I'm new to all this, it's my first evo, so please bare with me :)

Thanks for the replies too.

Take it to a decent tuner and get them to check it out for you. Where are you based?

I'm in Tamworth, if it's boost surge, how do I stop it? Is it a case of just lowering the boost pressure? I've got the evc manual, but I can't seem to get it to do what I want it to, and I'm worried that I'll blow the cylinder head off if I accidentally put the boost to a million bar or something :D

Anyone know how to work the damn things?

Also, if I do get it mapped, can I not just have the boost set to a level where I will only get 366 ish bhp? The MLR are having a RR day soon
What would it cost to get mapped on the rollers and set to standard power?

If you get it mapped they will use the evc to control the boost level anyway.
Just out of interest why do you want that power level?

I don't know what it reads when it cuts, I'll go out in it tonight n make it happen, and I'll try to look at the boost guage and the evc.

I only want 360bhp because I've only just got the car, and if I get it mapped to 400 now, I'll have less to gain in the future when I want that bit more from it.
Coming from 109bhp to 360bhp is going to take some getting used to, the last thing I need is even more power... Not yet anyways :)

as said, it will be the fuel cut due to the induction kit, decat and colder weather.

turning the boost down will cure it for now, but a remap will sort it and allow you to run more boost again.

avoid hitting the fuel cut if you can as its not good for the engine.

jeeeeesus!!! I've just been out provoking it, and the standard mitsubishi boost gauge went off the scale!!!! 1.5 bar is the highest that reads... but on the EVC is says 150 Kpv or whatever it is, which converts to 21 PSI, which, again converts to 1.4 Bar... I'm confuzzled!

anyways, I'm taking the car back to Xtreme on saturday to get them to set the max boost, and target boost settings. I've tried to do it with the manual, but for some reason i can't...
