turbo upgrade

hello all you evo lovers hope you all well.
wot turbo do i put on my evo 4 will viii turbo be toooooo much for my baby engine and have i got to add different moutings or any thing as i have never seen any other later turbos in detail yet:hm:

i might stand corrected but the 8 turbo should be ok you can set the boost level ur self and up it when you uprate other parts.

what 8 is it gsr, fq, mr

used they tend to go for somewhere between 3 to 400, but bargains are to be had

You won't gain much from a VIII turbo, unless it's an VIII MR one but still the turbo will out perform your iV engine so I'd just stick to the turbo you have got

:wtf:hi lee i have found out wot the trouble was with my car as i thought it was tap ajusters well took the sump off today could not find any thing but the front balance shaft is moving side to side not long ways wot made me look there was saterday i took my roker cover off and swoped my new ajusrs round to see if the noise had moved but the noise was still there so it had to be bottom end tested big ends no play so i just put my pri bar and poked the balance shaft and it moved so the noise i recon is coming from the shaft to were the waght is thrown wat do you think sorry if i have bored you:wtf::^^::whistling::wub:

That shaft runs through the oil pump so I'd be weary of that causing problems too. Is there any movement in the crank ? Operating the clutch might show this

no there is not any crank walk yet just the ballace shaft i have sent off to cam skills for the ballace removel kit so be doing that soon and hope it fixs it will know by end of the week fingers x

Evo IX 80 series turbo is a good upgrade for up to 450 BHP IIRC. You'll need stronger internals before pushing that far tho.

hi lee taken all bits off my 4 now just waiting for parts and gaskets took me half the day to do thou wen i was on about getting viii turb i was just started to save bits to i am thinking of building my own engine in the garage as a progect but i will be stunted by funds at times and getting the right bits at right time so will see how it goes lernig fast exept for my spelling lol:wub:new engine:whistling:

hi thanks for that i think i got that turbo but mite not put it in i am thinking of building my own engine with strong inturnals as a project no rush wen its it will be finished :hm: still got to start it yet:wtf:

Mate you need to het to the bearings that the balance shaft sits in and rotate them 90 degrees otherwise the oil feed to the shaft will just piss oil out and you won't get any presure. It's about halfway along the length of the balance shafts

i would uprate piston's and and rod's on a 4 before turbo. 4 tub could see up to 360ish.

Not sure if it's just the front or both. You will need to remove both cos they work with eachother to smooth the engine vibrations out. If you just remove one it will probably be all over the place.

My mates 5 had 1 shaft out of sync with the other and you could tell the difference once we put it right so taking one out will make it a right mess.

Sorry mate, you need to rotate the bearing 90 degrees so the oil doesn't flow throughout the hole in the bearing

yes m8 i know about you have to remove both shafts but the bearings are thy easy to rotate and wot stops them rotating back it looks quite tight up there i do not know if fat feelers will get in lol

You need to remove them, then rotate 90 degrees then re-insert them.

Don't ask me how cos my engine builder done mine

I'd imagine they are a very tight fit and yea he said it was a right pig of a job to do. No they won't fall out if done right.
