understand that, just why go to the trouble if they can use the lights on the bootlid?? surely the cheaper option.

Not all cars came with the lights in the bootlid...

I did a similar mod to my car years ago as I didn't want a big ugly light in or hanging off the bumper.

worked well, and didn't look out of place imo

on my 4 i used to have like a red led strip at bottom of bumper,, but it had seen better days,,, so i replaced it with a square foglight,, but i only put it in at the time of mot,,, rather than big ugly thing hanging down from back bumper

The rest of time wires are wrapped up and cable tied up out of the way,, until i get my arse into gear and get the fog light mod done in the back light!!!

i have finally got around to sorting my rear fog light out as i have my MOT next month.

i have used the right hand reflector on the bootlid. to get the bulb and electrics to fit in i had to cut out some of the inside boot, not much though.
i then routed the wire along the boot release cable using cable ties and followed it around the boot strut.
(that bit took ages!!)
i then ran the rest of the cable under the carpet through the car.
i decided the switch need to be somewhere discreet as there is not a blank switch in place, so i popped out the square space as indicated below and put the switch in that. it is hidden away there and saved cutting a hole somewhere else!!

all in all it took about 2 hours :wtf: but i wanted a proper job done as i didnt want a hanging bracket or one in the bumper.

what did u cut the whole with in the boot lid and why is the conector block so big couldnt u have used something smaller?

got any pics of it when light is on?

ill get the pic with the light on when i have the car back from the local garage. im working 6-6 atm and cant get to the garage in any breaks.

i used a twin blade saw. the connector block wouldnt have fitted if it was alot smaller... the angle of that part was too much and the reflector itself was too shallow

thats not a bad idea. it just took quite a while because i wasn't expecting the bulb and connector to be too big. and then routing it through the car is alot more time consuming than i thought!!! its worth it though because i didnt want a hole in the bumper or a bracket hanging down.

as for the holder for it there is a garage about 200m down the road from me who had one for a fiver

yeah it is legal. well it passed the mot and i have never been pulled etc. and there are police all around here with nothing better to do
