I don't know the spec of your car or how you use it but it'll probably be a pointless upgrade unless your current turbo is maxed out.

You will loose some spool and midrange but gain top end. Obviously you need a remap to make the most of it.

Spec of car is nothing special,, Just the usual induction kit 3inch turbo back xhaust and e5 injectors and ecu,,

I just thought it would be better spool sooner etc,, But possibly some oen else will be along to help also,

Cheers for feedback

It will spool slower as the back housings is bigger. You'd be better of spending your money on a remap. You need 1 to get the best from either turbo.

as far as i know its not going to spool quicker than the standard IV turbo but will gain more top end.
then again it all depends on the car setup & re-map.
a good exhaust system & a induction kit will spool the turbo up a bit quicker'

if its the evo 8 turbo i am pretty sure (correct me if i'm wrong) it has stronger internals (titanium i think) and a better actuator than the 4 so if you are mapping it for more horses at least you would have peice of mind.

yes.
if high bhp is wanted an 8 turbo & actuator is brilliant.
but the 4 block is not the strongest to take such extreme power.

yeah i know about the 4 not being the best engine wise,, Dont want massaive power just thought with the turbo and a good map it would be a1,,, But then again a good map on my car at the minute would probably be just as good without the 10.5 and e8 actuator

hi m8 the 4 engine is good for at least 380 bhp with no problems.
i am in the process of a 400/400 stock safely in my 4 with the mods 1 have and a few more (just saving up the pennys for them) it will be well under way and i carn't wait,
yes i no the 4 engine has its problems (ie crankwalk)so do all the rest, but if u look after it, it will look after u.

ye on the standard 4 turbo, put a e6 turbo 10.5 u'll get 380 and put a uprated 1.5 bar actuator on it as well, sort'd,

at the mow i'm runnin full s/s system turbo back, 255 fuel pump, e6 injectors and pistons e6 ecu electronic boost controller which is runnin 1.2 bar and 1.4 bar when i need it with no problems at all,(not even re-mapped yet)

savin my pennys for a e8 turbo, 272 cams, adjustable pullys and a 1.5 bar actuator and theres my 400/400 with a re-map

hope this helps with your views

I am sure it will not go bang. It has a mixture of VI internals that will ensure no melt down, I hope!!!

i cant see any 4 running more than 350 on standard internals for long'
agreed with the 'bang'

Seems to be luck of the draw really with engines....

There are people who are probably running over 350bp on IV engines and its never missed a beat, much like some running more than 400bhp on V engines with no issues.........yet others try their luck and it ends in tears :(

If it goes bang, then you could drop a lump in from a VI onwards (you have more options then for increasing power i.e a rod job)........Money permitting of course.

the turbo was sold anyway,,, but i guess it is the luck of the draw,, some engines can handle it and some cant for some reason,,
