Heya,

Been t pick up my Evo today, but on the way home, whenever i turn there is a horrible knocking noise coming from one of the front wheels. Will this be the drive shafts, or could it be something elase? Any help would be hugely appriciated. Thankyouuuu :)

is it when you go slow and turn ? I have a knocking noise and have done for over a year lol, thought it was the cv joint so had a new drive shaft put in but the noise is still there so was advised it might be the diff bolts need replacing :)

At first it was just when going slow at full lock but now it seems to be making clunking noise all the time, are diff bolts an expensive fix? Is there anything else it could be?

Thankyou for all your help

Cv joint or diff bolts aren't really expensive jobs

Hope this problem didn't dampen your day. Evos always seem to have a noise, fix one and you find another lol.

So other than the noise, how are you enjoying your new car?

Yea it's not a hard or exspensive job to do Hun, prob a couple of hours on the ramps, some people take the transfer box out, others can do it with it in, bolts ain't to costly either, bout £20.00 not sure if it's the same on the 8's as the 6's but I've been advised that 12.9 are better then the 10.9 ones :)

Best not to drive it, get someone local who knows evos to have a look at it,as they will know what to look for.

There arent any evo specialists near me. Do you think it would be safe to drive to the garage 8 miles away?

You're more then welcome sweetie xxxx

Don't worry you're not doing any damage to your car providing that is the problem, but defo take it to a specialist local to you and get it seen to, but it's not going to cause any damage, the bolts will go again, it's probably the most annoying thing about evo's lol xxx

Bummer, hopefully it will be an easy fix and you can get out enjoying the car.

I have a knocking noise when turning also, seems to be worse when turning out of junctions but when you increase speed there is no noise at all.

Yea Hun, it's a possibilty that it could do the gears some damage over time, but having said that I've been driving mine on the road and track and launched it up pod several times and mine is still going well, and it started knocking well over a year ago, but I don't know how long yours has been knocking for, and if that's defo the reason behind the knocking. :) xxx
