Hi Guys,
Just got my 4 back yesterday with a recon 6 engine and gearbox in and it is running sweet as a nut.
One thing that it was doing before i sent it in for the work and now still is, was that there is a whining sound coming from somwhere in the transmission. So i'm assuming that it could be from one of the driveshafts, a wheel brearing, front or rear dif or something to do with the AYC, prop shaft or the transfer box. Coz it can't be the gear box, because its just been changed.
The noise starts to come on at about 30 mph to 40 mph, thats when it does it the most quietly and thats with no gears engaged, so in neatural or with my foot on the clutch. Or if i'm going about 70 mph and then brake quickly again with no transmisson engaged, its make the same noise but loader.
Just a bit worried if this could be fatel or if I take it easy, which I am because I'm running my new engine in, will it be ok till I get what ever it is sorted.
I've just gone through all my service history from when I bought the car and for a start it doesn't look like any of the other transmission fluids have been changed apart from the brand new oil in the gear box and engine.
Any idea's - Thanks for looking.
Ollie
