Hi guys, my son has an Evo 4 (import) model and has been over the moon with it - and why not eh ;)

He asked me to take him and a couple of mates to the pub in it, whilst we were travelling along he said "turn off the turbo timer and floor it, I've got 97 octane in it!" well, I had to didn't I, my foot went down to the floor and she took off like a bullet! But as I was about to change into second gear the engine simply cut out, no warning just stopped instantly? I rolled the car so far and then pulled over. I turned the key and the engine spun over but no spark, nothing, just turning over and over, so I decided that rather than drain the new battery, my son and his mates pushed it to a hill, we coasted down to the bottom and spun left to where we live, parked up and tried again, nothing, just same thing turning over but no spark, no fuel - of course I am guessing here but if an engine had a spark it would try to fire at least!

It is fitted with a Viper alarm system and a turbo timer, he did say that he was having to get closer and closer in order for the fob to lock the car, put the alarm on, I wonder if this has anything to do with it?

I can strip carbs down blind folded, and tune engines but this is an entirely different breed altogether.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

I pressed the 'mode' switch, this turned it off and then back on again, still no joy with it...."In my day it would have been either a dead condensor, dead coil or starter cable" ;) I must admit that I am a dinosaur with today's stuff but I find it interesting as well. Just wish I had some idea as to how this happened.

You mentioned "turning the turbo timer back on" how did it turn off in the first place? Was it the over-revving?

I've just had the battery negative lead off for 30 secs and popped it back on, checked all the fuses in the fusebox under the bonnet. The only thing I noticed was that the lid to the fuesbox was not on properly, but no water has entered, it is now back on right. I tried the engine but still no spark, it doesn't even try to fire! Damn these electronic gizmos ;)
I didn't hear the fuel pump pressure up, nor will it run on the LPG system that is fitted.
It was working fine and dandy until last night, are there any other fuses I should check?
