Hi Aaron,
This is something that has been known to happen, it is called body flex and occurs when the car is being driven round bends or over bumps. The weakest point on your car at the moment is the area around the windscreen. It flexes and the windscreen cracks.

You will need to get this dealt with properly or it will keep on happening buddy. As stated by other members, a good body shop will know exactly what to do with it.

Should be a same day job or a couple of days at the most depending on the facilities available.
It will require a grind down of the rust and affected areas, maybe some welding, then a grind down to flatten, zinc coat, then some filler with hardener, then some filler primer followed by a top coat or two.

Once done your windscreen will be fitted and the rubber seal will go back on.

Get them to check the whole windscreen area and the welds around the strut tops/bulk head.

Fit windscreen £40
Prep windscreen area £50
Base coat and top coat £30
Unexpected problems along the way £30

Any more then £150 and you should walk away.
Around £90 and you have a good deal on your hands buddy.

Either way, you should hang around to see that they are doing it properly and ensure that they give you something in writing to clarify that it will not happen again.

Ask friends or relatives that are in their late 40's or early 50's for info on good body shops, the oldies usually know where to go for good prices, after all, they have been existing longer then us and who ever they have been using will have a heap of experience by now;)

Never mind, still a little over the top on used prices but you got it local so still worth it I suppose.

Next time you need something, give me a shout and I will see about saving you some money buddy.
